Rockport Little Theatre Presents: Calendar Girls

After the passing of Annie’s husband John due to leukemia, she and her close friend Chris embark on a mission to collect funds for a new sofa in the local hospital’s waiting room. Their unconventional solution involves convincing four fellow members of the Women’s Institute (WI), Celia, Cora, Jessie and Ruth to join them in posing nude for an “alternative” calendar. With the assistance of Lawrence, a hospital porter and amateur photographer who cared for John during his final days, the calendar project surpasses everyone’s expectations, including the disapproval of the local WI chairman, Marie. The unexpected success not only secures the funds for the hospital sofa but also attracts widespread attention, with journalists flocking to the small village of Knapeley in the Yorkshire Dales. While the calendar achieves its charitable goals, the newfound fame strains the friendship between Chris and Annie, putting their bond to the test.
